THE BEST OF YAOWARAT ROAD, BANGKOK
Poverty and rampant starvation in the mountainous
regions of Southern China, many ethnic Chinese
embarked on the arduous journey towards a better
life. One of those places......Thailand.
Many didn’t make it along the way, but those
that made it to Thailand worked very hard, many
becoming very successful.
Our dishes pay homage to the age-old heritage of
the Teochew immigrant Chinese population in Bangkok
and their home-style cooking.
The dream of Chalida was born on a dusty road in Bangkok called Yaowarat Road.
100 years and thousands of recipes later, we opened our doors in London.
CHALIDA has two rooms: Our Thai tapas and our Hot Pot each with their own dedicated kitchen team.
CHALIDA is my mother's name- the concept is a true celebration of the woman in my life, my Thai heritage and the amazing food that I grew up with.
Together we will end homelessness. Sharing is giving, not just in Thai food culture but we believe this norm extends beyond the country's culture with strong family roots. From parents going to the market or cooking family meals, to extended relatives bringing home snacks and sweets as gifts after every outing.
Chalida is supporting Crises to support people out of homelessness for good through education, training, housing, employment and health support.
Our company culture is a reflection of social conscience and we believe that supporting our community is the greatest gift. Let's make a difference together!
Chalida brings you the best age old favourites of Thai - Chinese home- style cooking influenced by family recipes. My grand mother, Chinese war time immigrant moved to Bangkok and made the living serving food, and what she did best in the stalls of Yaowarat road, “the birthplace of Thai street food”. Our menu is an interpretation of the street food we grew up with showcasing vibrant, confident flavours of street side stalls and the food of all Bangkok. Our restaurant interior is a reflection of this rich Thai-Chinese heritage.
